Hot spots to PRAY for:

HONDURAS

POPULATION: 8 Million

CAPITAL: Tegucigalpa 850,000

RELIGION: Roman Catholic 97%, Protestant 3%

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE: Spanish

PRAY FOR:

  • Praise the Lord for the growth of Evangelical, in numbers and in influence.
  • Praise the Lord for growing missions vision. Pray for the indigenous mission agencies. Growth is hindered by lack of trust and cooperation.
  • Missions play an important partnering role in leadership development, specialized ministries and community projects that focus on suffering and poverty. Pray for these!
  • Pray for the indigenous peoples in the eastern rainforests – they have been voiceless, legally marginalized and disadvantaged, underclass.
  • Pray for the government, trying to establish democracy. This is hampered by crime, violence and a corrupt judicial system. Pray that God-fearing, moral leaders be raised up.
  • The Roman Catholic church - nominalism, pagan practices and immorality is widespread.
  • Among the Evangelicals fragmentation, jealousy, isolationism are huge hindrances. Pray for cooperation and fellowship.
  • Pray for leadership training – that students will gain good Bible knowledge.
  • Radio – National radio gives time to several evangelical churches and there are 41 evangelical radio stations.
  • Street children – +10 000 without homes - abused, exploited for sex, suffering severe malnutrition. Pray for the agencies seeking to meet their physical & spiritual needs.

Hot spots to PRAY for:

MEXICO

POPULATION: 112 million. Largest Spanish speaking country in The world. 296 People groups speaking 298 Languages.

CAPITAL: Mexico City 22 million

RELIGION: Roman Catholic 89%, Protestant 6%, Non-Religious 3,5%, Muslim 1% Other 0,5%

PRAY FOR:

  • Bible translation. Only 5 languages have the complete Bible, 98 have the New Testament.
  • Pray that the power of ancient gods and the spirit world be broken in the Spanish speaking majority
  • The Evangelicals: Persecution is increasing. The media portray Evangelicals as anti-Mexican destroyers of culture. Pray that the Truth will overrule these lies.
  • Godly pastors are needed for the poor rural and urban slum congregations. Pray that God raise up men with compassion & wisdom.
  • The Indian peoples. They are bound in dark pagan practices. Pray for vital discipleship and church planning ministries among them.
  • The many conservative Catholic and animistic towns, cities and groups that need to be reached with the Gospel.
  • Mexico city: 1000 neighborhoods without an evangelical congregation. 18 million poor. 7 million in desperate economic conditions. Pray for many Christian workers with a strong calling and commitment to take up ministry in these extremely challenging communities.
  • Praise the Lord for Christian Radio and the Jesus film.

Hot spots to PRAY for:

JAPAN

Population: 127 million

Area: 377 800 sq. km. 31% of South Africa

Capital: Tokyo 35 million. Largest city in the world.

Literacy: 100%

Religion: Majority Buddhist/ Shinto (±70%), Small number of Christians

Pray for Japan:

  • Pray for true conversions. Many add Christianity to their pagan religion.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin to the nation.
  • Pray for the Christian that experience persecution, that they will stand strong in their faith, & not become slaves to fear.
  • Pray that the power of Materialism and Idolatry be broken in their lives.
  • Pray for the Japanese to understand their need of the One & Only Saviour, Jesus.
  • Pray for Christian witness in every town and every city in Japan. Many have no church.

NIGERIA

Prayer Pointers:

Nigeria needs healing of hurts caused by civil war, Muslim rule, religious strife, mismanagement and corruption.Severe and cruel persecution of Christians happen in the Central and Northern regions. In 1999 Muslim Shari’a law was imposed in 8 states.

Pray for:

  • Healing, reconciliation and unity in Nigeria.
  • Pray against the corruption, greed, crime and drug-running in and from Nigeria to the world.
  • Pray for the families of martyred Christians in Nigeria, and for those who suffer severe perse-cution. Pray for strength to stand strong, and freedom from revenge.
  • Much distortion of the Gospel happens. Pray for adequate, sound training of pastors and good follow-up to Evangelism.
  • Praise the Lord for the dedication of believers to prayer in Nigeria.
  • Pray for an end in the tribal rivalry between the Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba and Igbo peoples.
  • Pray for peace between Christians and Muslims in the Jos region where hundreds of Christians have been murdered in the past weeks by Fulani Muslims.
  • Pray for the government to stop the killing of innocent people.
