Hot spots to PRAY for: EMERGENCY SERVICE CHAPLAINCY (ESC) Consisting of Ministers, Pastors and Christian lay-people, the ESC renders emotional support to the Emergency Services personnel as well as the general public in crisis situations. How can you help? - You can pray for the Chaplaincy
- If you are a minister, pastor, trained counsellor, or a Christian lay-person, you can consider getting involved.
Two main streams of the Chaplaincy Ministry: - Pastoral
The ESC has a task at hand to support fire-fighters, paramedics, SAPS, metro police, security officers after attending a major accident, or where a scene was attended which involved a great deal of stress. They also assist with: - Counselling (marriage or other) of Departmental personnel.
- Hospital visitation of personnel or family members.
- The Chaplain to be a friend and confidant.
- Assist in debriefing and post-traumatic stress.
- Crisis / Emotional Support
Victims and survivors of accidents, suicides, shootings, hijackings and such like, very often have no initial contact to which they can turn and it is there that the Chaplain is called on to assist by: - Provide emotional support to victims of accidents, suicides, shootings, hijackings, etc.
- Deliver a sensitive death notification and comfort the family while awaiting their Minister and or family members.
- Assist Paramedics and Rescue personnel by caring for the uninjured and/or their family members at the scene.
- If there is a death and the family has no church connection – the Chaplain can assist with the funeral.

Specific outreach challenges: - Belgium, as a nation, is spiritually one of the neediest countries in Europe.
- The provinces with the greatest need — Flemish Brabant and East Flanders, also the Francophone Liège, Namur and Luxembourg.
- Brussels is a strategic city.
- Antwerp has only 40 or so evangelical congregations.
